Community Meals
Hungry?
The Montrose Community Cupboard is excited to invite you to its monthly Community Meal Events—a celebration of people supporting people and reducing food waste. These gatherings offer a delicious, home-cooked meal using rescued food, turning surplus into something meaningful for the entire community.

The very first community meal, held at the Montrose Public Hall on 24 March 2024, was a heartwarming success, with approximately 50 attendees enjoying dishes such as chicken curry (with a vegan option), vegetable soup, baked potatoes, salads, and banana cake—all made from rescued food. Thanks to the hard work of volunteers, this initiative strengthens community connections while addressing food waste and offering financial relief to those who need it.
Each meal serves three core purposes:

-
Reducing food waste: Rescuing food from supermarkets that would otherwise end up in landfills.
-
Strengthening community ties: Providing a welcoming space where everyone can share a meal and make new connections.
-
Supporting those in need: Offering nutritious meals at no cost to ease the burden of rising living expenses.

So, whether you bring a friend or come on your own, you’ll find a warm welcome and friendly faces. Join us and be part of something meaningful—because sharing a meal can be the start of something extraordinary.
